Diff the Dragon – Part Twenty Nine

Diff-29

Diff the Dragon by Angela Lott, illustrations by Richard Bartrop. An Okal Rel Universe Legacy Novella featuring the young Alivda

Angela Lott is the middle child of Lynda’s three daughters. She did two years of Business schooling at the College of New Caledonia and is now working as a receptionist at her local FYiDoctors. In her spare time she enjoys writing, video blogging, reading and watching very nerdy TV shows.

Part 29

After he had done his time at court, Amel decided he should check on Ann. He knew he shouldn’t bring his little baby dragon with him, but he missed her terribly.

So though it hurt him, Amel went to visit Ann before he went to pick up Diff from her mother on Barmi II. He had a feeling he would be keeping those two apart more than just this once.

“How are you?” Amel asked Ann.

He had just docked on the Killing Reach station. She had been waiting for him at the docks.

“Well, I just got out of that stupid tiny space station!” Ann complained. “I couldn’t fly till my rib was better.”

“I am sorry,” Amel said. “But see no Diff today.” He smiled and Ann smiled back.

“Do you wanna go back to Rire with me?” Ann asked.

“I don’t think I have time,” Amel said. “I have messages to deliver on this side of the jump. I just wanted to make sure you were okay.”

“I’m okay,” Ann said. “Just…I miss you.” She put her arms around him and pressed herself up against him to further indicate the way she missed him.

Amel put his arms around her.

“I have time for a short visit here,” Amel said.

Ann looked up at him and Amel read the answer off her face. He led her back to his ship.
