Diff the Dragon – Part Twenty Seven

Diff-27

Diff the Dragon by Angela Lott, illustrations by Richard Bartrop. An Okal Rel Universe Legacy Novella featuring the young Alivda

Angela Lott is the middle child of Lynda’s three daughters. She did two years of Business schooling at the College of New Caledonia and is now working as a receptionist at her local FYiDoctors. In her spare time she enjoys writing, video blogging, reading and watching very nerdy TV shows.

Part 27

It didn’t take long for the news of Alivda’s attack to spread. Gossip can out fly highborns after all.

It seemed only Amel was unaware there was a rumour.

Amel nevertheless left Alivda with her mother on Barmi II and went back to court.

Before he went to see Ev’rel, Amel liked to check in with all his other friends. Otherwise he would never see them, since Ev’rel was so fond of monopolizing his time.

He had already gone to see Mira and little Mona, so there was only one more stop left.

“Amel!” Luthan exclaimed as soon as she saw him.

Luthan was wearing what she would call casual attire.

This meant she was in a beautifully hand-woven gown of gold and silver that went to the floor; her hair was up and she had a gold chained necklace around her neck.

For most five-years-olds this would have been a ridiculous get-up, but for the Princess-Liege of Silver Hearth it wasn’t.

Luthan was Amel’s favourite person to have tea parties with on fountain court.

“Hello, Luthan,” Amel said, smiling.

“Is the Reetion okay?” Luthan asked at once.

“What?” Amel asked.

“Alivda attacked Ann!” Luthan exclaimed.

“Well, sort of, but how do you know that?” Amel asked.

“My uncle told me.”

“How does your uncle know?”

“He heard it from Liege Monitum.”

“Where did he hear it?” Amel asked, trying to find the source.

“Not sure,” Luthan said. “But it has been going around.”

“You mean it’s become a rumour?” Amel groaned.

The beautiful, blonde, blue-eyed princess nodded.
