Despite his terror of discovery, Di Mon embraces his homosexual bond with Ranar at the end of Part 1: The Courtesan Prince. But Ranar is slowly grasping things will never be what he'd consider normal between them, either.

Writer-daughter Jennifer Lott's 2013 Xmas gift to Lynda Williams was an Okal Rel quote of the day stack for 2014, featuring intriguing snapshots of the ORU adventure from all titles in the series: Saga, Legacies and online.

From saga novel Righteous Anger by Lynda Williams.

Ranar raised a hand to touch Di Mon's arm, making him flinch away with a look of thunderous affront. Had the Reetion no sense! to betray familiarity like that in front of Branst!

Branst mised any suggestion of intimacy in the aborted act. He said, instead, with grim humor, "You could lose a hand that way, Reetion. Or worse."

Feb 18, 2014 - Okal Rel Quotes. Di Mon betrays his nervousness about Ranar betraying any sign of their homosexual relationship.

Commentary

Di Mon is nervous about being discovered to be gay for good reason: Gelack culture would punish not only him but disgrace his house. Ranar is from Rire, where homosexuality is a normal, accepted option. It isn't always easy for Ranar to remember to be duplicitous, for Di Mon's sake, under stress.

Writer-daughter Jennifer Lott's 2013 Xmas gift to Lynda Williams was an Okal Rel quote of the day stack for 2014, featuring intriguing snapshots of the ORU adventure from all titles in the series: Saga, Legacies and online.

From "Nestor's Gap" by Hal Friesen from Opus 3: An Okal Rel Legacy Anthology

Nestor wasn't the only one pretending to be someone else, and Di Mon's example, strange though it was, comforted him. He could continue to be Nersallian in appearance and others could continue their own personas, so necessary for survival in the Gelack Empire.

Jan 31, 2014 - ORU Quote from "Nestor's Gap" by Hal J. Friesen on roles to maintain a safe facade.

Commentary

"Nestor's Gap" is set during the Nesak War prior to the ten-novel Okal Rel Saga. In this quote, warrior Nestar Tark of House Nersal realizes he is hiding important aspects of his nature by playing the role of Nersallian Warrior -- not in the same way that Di Mon does, but just as surly. Nestor secretly discovers Di Mon's repressed homosexuality during this short story. Nestor himself is to discovers, over a series of short stories, that he sympathizes with the Nesaks over family life choices such as marriage, despite his Vrellish cultural upbringing.

From saga novel Pretenders by Lynda Williams.

"I am going out on the Plaza with Ayrium," Amra said, speaking in rel-peerage. "You will wait here."

He is giving Di Mon orders! Ayrium marveled, and held her breath, waiting for Di Mon to admonish him. It was Di Mon, after all, who was liege here! She was half afraid she might be forced to draw her sword in Amra's defense!

Mom would be so pleased at my progress wooing Fountain Court! she thought in a fit of black humor.

Jan 19, 2014 - Okal Rel Quote. Classic case of the king getting to know his future love while disguised as a more ordinary type of guy.

Commentary

Believing the impossible is tough, even when the evidence begins to stack up. Ayrium takes a long time to "get" that Amra is more than he seems. But in this scene from Part 3: Pretenders, she is already noticing something odd about Amra's relationship with Di Mon.

From saga novel Far Arena by Lynda Williams.

Erien could readily imagine Tatt stepping out onto the challenge floor, over and over, if Di Mon was accused of what Gelacks considered a vile perversion, risking his life repeatedly, with fiery affection for his late great-uncle, while Monitum's economy took a thrashing with its loss of reputation. How many lives weighed in the balance against Amel's in this dreadful calculus? He wished he could think clearly.
